Violence Against Women continues to be one of the most prevalent and least recognized human rights violations in the world.

Using art for activism, MISSING, launched a global campaign on child trafficking. The stencil which is a black silhouette of a young girl symbolizes a black hole cut out from the fabric of our environments to show how millions of girls disappear from face of the earth.

It takes 3 days for a girl to go missing. That means losing her identity, her family and remnants of a happy childhood. It’s devastating. With this project we want increased awareness about how vulnerable girls are trafficking and how the community as a collective can bring about solutions.

1. Print

Take a printout of the stencil. You can download the stencil kit right here. Leena recommends the stencil to be atleast 4 ft and that you print on flex before tracing it on a board. If you want a bigger stencil, head to a print shop and get it printed on large sized carboard.

2. Cut

Cut out the stencil with scissors, a paper cutter, or if you have a laser go for it. But be safe.

Do not forgot to cut out the #MISSINGIRLS text on your stencil.

3. Spray

Color in the stencil using black spray paint. You can use acrylic paints as well, just make sure they are the kind you can use on a wall. Take a picture of you and your finished masterpiece, post it online and tag us @Missinggirls. Don’t forget to hashtag #missingirls.
